Questions?
Coaching and counselling are both fields that aim to help people improve their lives, but they have some key differences:
Coaching focuses on future goals and achievement through helping clients identify what they want to achieve, develop strategies to reach their goals, and overcome obstacles.
Counselling, however, focuses on understanding and resolving past experiences and emotional challenges through helping clients explore their thoughts and feelings, develop coping mechanisms, and improve their overall well-being.
Choosing Between Coaching and Counselling:
- Coaching is a good fit for those seeking to improve specific skills, overcome challenges, and achieve goals related to career, relationships, or personal development.
- Counselling is a good fit for those dealing with deeper emotional issues like anxiety, depression, trauma, or relationship problems.
Sometimes coaching and counselling can overlap. A good coach may be able to help with some emotional challenges that are hindering progress towards goals. A counsellor may also incorporate goal-setting and action planning into their approach.
Neurodivergent is a term celebrating the diversity of human brains. Neurodivergent individuals experience the world in unique ways, including variations in attention (like ADHD), social interaction (like autism), sensory processing (like dyspraxia), and learning styles. Neurodiversity is not a disorder, but rather a way of being that can come with both challenges and strengths.
